This Butoh-theatre piece was created in 2023 as part of the special exhibition “Fantom der Nacht – 100 Jahre Nosferatu” at the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg, Nationalgalerie Berlin, and was performed on site at the museum.
Nosferatu escapes the film, leaping from screen to stage.
Maco and Hikaru, alongside two other performers from 4RUDE, invite you on a journey through the art of Butoh, exploring the tale of the film Nosferatu.
Originally released in 1922, Nosferatu is a silent horror film that tells the story of Count Orlok, a vampire who leaves his remote castle to spread fear, disease, and death. Drawn to a young woman whose presence captivates him, Orlok brings a shadow of obsession and destruction wherever he goes. The film unfolds as a haunting meditation on desire, contagion, and the inescapable approach of death.
